Dayna Harp Joins The Mifos Initiative
I am honored and excited to join the Mifos team as the Director of Strategic Initiatives. The primary charge of this position is to assist the Mifos Community to deliver on its mission to speed the elimination of poverty by coordinating a global community that uses Mifos X to deliver responsible financial services to the world’s 2.5 billion poor and unbanked. To help achieve this mission, I will reach out to the global financial co-operatives for support, will coordinate the efforts of end user documentation and will coordinate the volunteer efforts of non-technical volunteers.
I have been around The Mifos Initiative since April 2013 when I traveled to Ibadan, Nigeria to assist in a microfinance bank operational overhaul and Mifos system deployment. From that very first experience, I have been impressed with the talent, commitment and kindness prevalent throughout the community. Mifos is a very special place. After this first experience, I have been providing volunteer services as I could squeeze it into my schedule. Now, I am lucky enough to be a full-time member of the team.
As I have been gearing up as a member of the team, I have had the opportunity to speak with many of the deployment partners in the field. My goal is to learn the best way Mifos X can assist them in growing their own businesses and help to penetrate the credit cooperative community. I have also been reaching out to the credit union community to introduce The Mifos Initiative and to gain both financial and volunteer support.
I bring to the Mifos Initiative a strong credit union background. For more than 20 years I worked in the U.S. credit union community in a variety of roles from staff to consultant to Chief Executive Office of The White House Federal Credit Union. I cannot be more delighted to use the knowledge gained in my career to help build a “World of 3 Billion Maries.”
I hope to meet many of you at the 2014 Mifos Summit in Kampala, Uganda October 14-17th.
